What is a Tesla wheel alignment?
A Tesla wheel alignment sets the angles of all four wheels back to Tesla's specifications, so the tires wear evenly and the car tracks straight. It prolongs tire life, improves handling and stability, and helps keep your Tesla as efficient as it can be.
Tesla recommends regular tire maintenance. If you notice uneven or abnormally fast tire wear, it is a strong sign your Tesla needs an alignment.

Signs your Tesla needs an alignment
Teslas wear through tires faster than most cars, so watch for these signs.
Uneven or fast tire wear
One edge wears faster, or the tires go early.
Steering wheel off-center
It sits tilted when you drive straight.
Pulling to one side
The car drifts left or right on a straight road.
Worn suspension parts
Torque and weight wear them, and the alignment with them.
Also have it checked after:
New tires
Lowering or lifting
Camber arms or aftermarket suspension
A pothole or curb
Suspension repairs
Why Teslas need alignment more than you'd think
There is a common misconception that Teslas do not need regular wheel alignments because of their electric drivetrain and advanced technology. They do: alignments are essential maintenance for all vehicles, including Teslas.
EVs often weigh about 30% more than gas-powered vehicles. Instant torque, regenerative braking and heavy battery packs accelerate tire wear and pull camber and toe out of spec faster than in a comparable gas car, and they wear suspension parts faster too.
Benefits of a proper alignment
- Longer tire life
- Even tire wear
- Better handling and stability
- Better efficiency
- Less wear on steering and suspension parts
Lowered Tesla? Custom specs? Aftermarket suspension?
Lowered or custom specs
We have extensive experience with suspension-modified Teslas. We align lowered cars and set custom specs when you want them.
Aftermarket suspension
We install aftermarket suspension and camber arms, and we can lift a Model Y.
How we align your Tesla
Every Tesla alignment follows the same steps: we set the car in service mode, test drive it to find any concerns, inspect the suspension, set the tire pressures, take the initial readings and adjust all four wheels. Then we reset and relearn the steering offset and test drive again to verify.
We use the Hunter Hawkeye Elite aligner. Its four precision cameras take 3D measurements, so every angle is captured accurately and adjusted quickly.
